The school we love is not the school we recognise.
Under the current management, boys have been steadily shut out of any meaningful say in the direction of our school. Decisions that shape our days, our traditions and our future are made without us — and when we raise them, we are not heard.
What was once a community built on collective pride has become something quieter and hollower. The spirit of the place, the thing that made it ours, has been allowed to go out.
The site is kept anonymously under the name Vox — Latin for voice. The name is the whole argument. A school is not a set of buildings and a budget; it is the people inside it. When those people have no voice, the institution is still standing but the school is already gone.
Every account published here is first-hand. Nothing is invented, nothing is second-hand, and nothing goes up without being read and cleared against the standards set out below. If you are a current or former boy, a parent, a teacher or a member of staff, and you have something to say about what this school has become — this is where you say it.
What we publish, and what we will not.
This site publishes opinion and lived experience about the direction of a school. That is a legitimate subject for public discussion, and the people affected by an institution's decisions are entitled to say what those decisions have cost them.
Being entitled to speak is not the same as being entitled to say anything. The rules below are the ones every account is checked against before it goes up. They exist to protect contributors, to protect people who are written about, and to keep this a record rather than a rumour mill.
Comment is marked as comment
Accounts here are opinions and personal experience. Where an account draws a conclusion, the experience it rests on is stated so readers can weigh the conclusion for themselves.
Facts are stated, not implied
An opinion is only worth anything if you can see what it is built on. Vague insinuation is edited out. If something happened, the account says what happened.
Names are removed
Contributors are not named, and neither is anyone they write about. Individual staff, boys and families are redacted before publication. Criticism here is of decisions and direction, not of persons.
Right of reply
Anyone who believes an account misrepresents them may write to us and their response will be published alongside it, unedited, at the same prominence.
Corrections are made quickly
If something published here is shown to be inaccurate, it is corrected or removed without argument, and the correction is noted openly rather than quietly.
No malice
Accounts submitted to settle a personal score are not published. The test is whether an account tells readers something true about the school, not whether it stings.

- Anything second-hand, rumoured or unverifiable
- Comment on anyone's family, health, appearance or private life
- Material submitted to embarrass a particular person
A note on this page: it sets out how this site is run. It is not a legal opinion and it does not claim immunity from anything. South African law protects honest comment on matters of legitimate public interest where the facts behind the comment are true and stated, and it does not protect false factual allegations about identifiable people — labelling something an opinion does not make it one. These standards exist because they are the right way to run a record like this, not because a disclaimer can substitute for them.
